Historically I haven't been a huge Chard fan but lately I've been drinking more and more Ramey, Varner, Hansel. After reading about the 04' Hess and the score it got from WS I thought "what the heck, give it a shot".

Well, it's definately not any threat to any of the above mentioned wines. Definately your stereotypical California oak bomb. No minerality to it at all. This will appeal to some people however with it's incredibly overwhelming sense of liquid butter. For the price it's a good summer BBQ quaffer but giving it 93 pts is a real stretch. 88 IMHO.

Thanks for posting this note Rigga. Someone else on this board said that it was not a 93 point wine like WS gave it. Unfortunately, I purchased 3 of them hoping it would be a stunning chardonnay for $14. Maybe WS owes Hess something...

I think I posted something similar a while back. A simple quaffer, if a non-wino served it I would be thrilled. Otherwise, very average.
