| The bottle I had last night with JonesWineNo1 and Davidn at Bacar couldn't have been more different than yours. The fruit was muted (we thought it was lightly corked but the Sommelier disagreed). There was also a slight metalic taste. Jones refused to rate the wine. This was my first Marcassin and Jones said that it was not representative of this wine. | | | |

| The bottle was bad. I'm taking that issue up today with Debbie Zachareas. | | | |

| You know I've been thinking about this. What if we had said "open a second bottle, if they both taste the same we'll pay for both, if they are different we only pay for one (or none, depends upon how bold you want to be)". | | | |

| You should not have to do that. At a restaurant with $38 entrees that charges $3 an oyster then they should take back a wine even if the person saying it is bad has no idea what they are talking about. | | | |

| I had been to Bacar a month ago and had done a preliminary review. Its going to get expanded after this latest visit. | | | |

| Tasted at the Bacar dinner, 4/12/04:
For me this wine was all about contrast - I don’t know how else to put it. It’s like a dish that contrasts hot and cold elements to create a sensation. The tremendously powerful nose is packed with an amazing array of aromas, pineapple, intense minerals, and a surprising touch of petrol. On the palate it is sweet, but at the same time dry, with spicy notes of clove and caramel. A tremendously complex, intriguing wine that changes with every sip. Outstanding. | | | 2008: the end of an error | |
