$30, Retail

I think Dan also posted that this is a great wine for the ol’ buck.  And, indeed it is, buttery, lemony, & a nice little bottle of chard.  Drink or hold on this one.  Perhaps give it 30 mins of air & let it rip.

Rating: I agree with Parker’s 91 points.

I agree.  Ramey basically across the board really knows how to make California Chardonnay.

I agree with that statement. The Reds now cost more than I am willing to pay. But, I still buy the whites.

The prices on the chards around here are taking off.
I was able to get the 03 Hyde easily for $47.
The current releases are in the $60 range.

I was a Hyde buyer every year as well until now. Call it rationalization, palate adjustment, or calling out the emperor with no clothes, but I now gladly buy and drink the appellation Chards (RR and SC) with no preceived loss of quality, and a whole bunch more coin in my pocket.
Beta testing a new signature.

I think the Ritchie is worth the extra cash but from a value standpoint it is tough to beat the lower end Chard - especially when it goes on sale at Safeway.

I had the 02 Ramey Ritchie and 05 Ramey Hyde recently, and thought they were both outstanding. I have had good success finding Ramey chardonnays on Wine Commune and Winebid for less than the increased prices. Not sure why they don't get the respect they deserve, but I am not complaining.
