$20, Retail.

Ahh, a pretty good bottle of bubbles.  Actually, for $20 dollars, it is a very good bottle of bubbles.  Simple, straight forward, a bit rough around the edges.  But, for the money, it is not bad @ all.

WS rated it 91 points.  I don't see 91 points in this bottle.  But, recommended for the money nonetheless.  I would say 88 points, drink now.  Hold if you prefer, but no reason to hold @ all, if you ask me.

P.S.: ...with sushi it does a great job.

LCC - I'm going to agree with you on this one. A little more residual sugar than I care for in my champagnes but all of the flavors are quite "champagne-like" especially a chalky note on the nose. Also as LCC says it has fairly large bubbles that make it a bit ragged. After a few minutes in the glass these smooth out. I'm also going with 88 points and a reco if you can get this around ~$20. Nice bubbly.

FYI - French champagne has gotten so expensive that I'm looking for alternatives. When Bollinger NV hits ~$50 you know it's time to look around.

Hmm, when Winetex starts looking at alternatives to French champagne, you know it's time to look around. :-)

Actually, I've been buying and drinking Champagne in greater quantities, but I've also been looking for bargains. Being close to K&L helps a bit.

I bought this bottle at my local grocery store for $23.

Yes, when I moved to Austin I lost my bargain champagne sources for house champagnes. There was one good one that was only $22. I look around at the Austin stores for bubblies I can buy in quantities. I like Bollinger NV for under $40 but that appears to be a thing of the past.
