This wine was named 2002 "Pinot Noir of the Year" by WineState magazine of Australia. Wine Spectator rated it 84P. I purchased this for $25 in Buffalo over x-mas.

Along with black cherries and bacon fat, the nose had a strange metallic tone to it. The flavors crested in a small wave on the back of the palate - cherry, strawberry and leather. Expansive mouthfeel, with a medium finish. Crafted more in a Burgundian than New World style. Nice velvety texture. I get the feeling that this wine is a bit disjointed right now and may improve with another 1-3 years of bottle age. 88P right now.

I'm really surprised WS only gave it 84 points. I wonder when they tasted it? Your score seems closer to the mark.

Harvey Steiman of WS rated this 84P in the 6/15/02 issue. Here is an excerpt from his TN:

"Firm in texture, with nicely focused blackberry, vanilla and spice flavors, finishing with welcome lightness. Drink now."
