The Swamp Reserve Chardonnay is one of the big Chardonnays of NZ. It has been produced since 1987 and has won more gold medals than any other NZ chardonnay form a single vineyard. It is a very longlived wine which really requires ten years before it is drinking well. The 1990 is drinking well now. It is aged for two years in lightly toasted French oak with six months of lees contact.

This wine costrs about $30 NZD.

Colour: Deep green gold
Nose: Strong biscuity lemon and grapefruit with full yeast vanilla notes. Powerful cheese notes develope after a few moments.
Palate: Rich viscous cheesy flavours dominate the silky texture that flows aorund the mouth. This wine is very warm (about %13.5 alcohol) but the finish is excellent and rounded.
Overall: Great stuff and worthy of the hype. 90 on the Jeremy Scale.
