One of only two gold medal winners at NZ annual Royal Easter Show. Almost none produced(100 cases) making it largely irrelevant that it won it, but I had a single bottle lying around so thought I would drink it.

Colour: Pale gold
Nose: Peach, butter, phenolic nut notes and apricots, also some kiwifruit and goosebury (?)
Palate: Excellent acids that intergrate with the phenolic bitterness evident on the back of the palate. Excellent viscous notes with a little residual sweetness. An incredibly complex paalte.
Overall: A great example of this varietal. 91 Points on the Jeremy scale. Pretty good for $20 NZD ($10 USD).

Jeremy, the only NZ Pinot Gris I've had was the Kim Crawford. It was in a restaurant and we loved it, but I can't find it in stores.

Thats interesting. Kim Crawford is large scale in comparison to many other producers that NZ sends to the US. With your purchaasing power you may wish to try and convince your nearest wine shop to get some in with a container. Pinot Gris is being grown across the the country, in a number of regions and seem to be on the increase.

Look out for Kumeu River's pinot gris 2002 (should be available up in NY) also Peregrine and Thornbury Pinot Gris.
