| Had this at Rice Queen (see dining, yes I'm yet to work out how to do links) with Mrs J and friends.
Odyssey is a small boutique producer who is making a name for themselves. Viognier is starting to take off in NZ and although many feel it is just a trend the continued quality by producers such as te Mata, Milton, and one or two others suggests there will be more rather than less produced in NZ.
Colour:Straw gold Nose: Phenolics dominate, sweet caramelised nuts, spiced wood notes, apple and a hint of pleasant wet wool, vanilla, and preserved apricots. Palate: Acids dominate, through the fore and mid palates, the taste lingers for quite some time ending around the mid palate. very warm although no bitterness from alcohol that Viognier often produces in higher alcohol examples. Overall: A great wine with lovely intergrated flavours and textural expiriences. A 88 on the Jeremy Scale for a $13 USD wine. Good value. | | |
