i'm not sure what to pair with this, but since we had a big ham bone to dispose of, katy decided to make a big pot of beans . when mom made this meal growing up it was always iced tea. i have about a glass of the '00 henry's drive cab left from last night so i'll have that at least.

An Aussie shiraz would work well. We like the Rosemount GSM for everyday drinking like this.

You MUST be from Texas. My mom makes great pinto beans. Yum.

I was just thinking a Shiraz or a Shiraz/Mourvedre/Grenache blend.

Oh, and some Bean-O.

I would "pass" on the Bean-O. Isn't the aftermath half the fun?

Cheers, y'all

Gus: I am FITFULLY JEALOUS!!! I grew up on Soup Beans and Cornbread!!! There is nothing better to do with a left over ham-hock, in my opinion, than to fix up some pinto beans. Lucky so-and-so!!!

A nice tannic shiraz all the way, baby! I love beans and cornbread. And I love Bean-o - don't laugh! It works!

brent,

now i'm hungry! i believe lilac is right on in both the last post & her original post on this thread. i'd lean more towards the blend though & hope for some earthy nuances with the pintos , but if you can get it, shiner bock would pair very well .

Mmmmmmmm ..........soul food A few years ago when traveling through Costa Rica and Nicaragua I got hooked on black beans and rice. They served us BB&R with every meal, breakfast lunch and dinner. I loved it !!!

AUSSIE SHIRAZ. I'd even go so far to say Marquis Phillips.

Here's another drink suggestion that I like with Pinto Beans and Cornbread- ICE TEA!

I'm with PURPLE TJ. PRESWEETENED is the way to go. Adding sugar after the facts sucks. Might as well drink it without the sugar.
