| I'm picking out the wines for Sunday night. There will be a group of 24. Some have decent wine knowledge and some have less. In other words this is not a bunch of winos.
I think I should pour a "recognizable" brand; kind of "the best of the worst". Which cab do you think might be drinking the best?
1995 Silver Oak Alexander. 1996 Silver Oak Napa. 1996 Opus One. 1997 Opus One. 1997 Cain Five. 1997 Mondavi Reserve.

| I'd say that if they are Silver Oak virgins, you'll score big points with the '95 Alex. Valley. | | | |

| Agree with '95 Alex. Had a few in the last 3-4 months. Sold the rest. Go with Soak. People that are not Winos & know the Soak name will LOVE it. | | | |

| I don't think the Silver Oak is the best of this lot by any stretch. But it is the one that I would feel the least guilt opening, knowing that I would have to share it with 24 other people. Go with it. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| What? Me worry? Guilt?
Do you mean that you think it is the one that would be easiest to part with?
Don't worry about that. I've got waaaayyyy to many of each. You know; bought them when I didn't know better.
Which one is drinking best and which one would be the most "impressive" (if you know what I mean).

| Yes. My post was geared toward picking the wine that I would shed the fewest tears over sharing with 2 dozen people. But if you really want to open the best of this list, then the cream of this crop (by a wide margin IMO) is the '96 Opus. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| I agree with JimmyV, but I haven't had the Cain 5. The '96 Opus is a very tasty wine. If you decide to go with the Soak and need some more '95 AV, let me know.... | | | |

| I think the '97 Opus tasted best after four or five martinis.
If you are stone sober stay away. Wait 'til the proper occasion (i.e. five martinis) before you pop one.
Non-winos LOVE the stuff!

Man, thanks. I have one bottle. And I was thinking of opening it next May when my oldest graduates. Anybody want to buy a bottle of 97 Opus? | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.
