I'm taking a vintage port to a wine tasting this weekend and am trying to figure out what to pair with it. There is of course the standard cheese, but does anyone have anything else they like to pair with vintage port?

Lightly candied nuts especially walnuts. Dark chocolate based desserts but make sure the dessert is less sweet than the port. A combination of the foregoing is pretty good (although I must admit with a really fine VP I don't put out much with it myself).

I think "the standard cheese" is one of THE great food/wine combos.

A good English Stilton works magic with Vintage Port, for all the right yin and yang reasons.

Cut some dates in half and pipe a good soft blue cheese in them. YUM!!!
