Great read from tweedledee and tweedledum on four NYC tasting menu experiences.  Full on butchered Le Bernardin.

I thought they made some good points as in "don't ignore winos for they may work for the WSJ".

My only experience with NYC tasting menus was at Babbo.  The tasting menu with the reserve wines could not have been much better.  The somm poured all of the wines with each course and explained why they paired the wines with each dish in a non-obsequious way.

That's the first time I've seen the "socks rolling up and down" phrase coming from someone beside David!

That's the first time I've read an entire column by them in a long time. I enjoyed it, and was also pleased to see that it is now "free" without a subscription.

The "socks rolliing..." phrase also stood out for me. As the column is jointly written, I thought to myself, "this is the guy writing."

They must love calling up the restaurants and saying "we just ate dinner there, we didn't have a good time and would you like to add anything to our negative review?"

Thanks for the post. I didn't have time to read the paper today and it was more fun reading it online.

That's the thought that killed me, too LOL!!
As far as the paper goes, I've pretty much thrown in the towel and just started reading the online version in my free time.  Too damn cold in the morning to go fetch it...
