| Picked up today and decided to try; decanted and open 3 hours as already throwing fine sediment.
Still dark almost black opaque color.
Black and blue fruit nose with hints of oak; follows through on the palate with the same fruits adding subtleties of mocha cappucino and vanilla. This is a complex wine that is stylistically a cross between MP and Torbreck.
This is a very enjoyable bottle today and I'm not sure if it will get significantly better with aging.

| Hey MTP, thanks for the TN. I've had the Apricot Block shiraz and have one bottle of the Alices i haven't tried yet.
What do you think is the optimum drinking window? | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Rev,
If you have just one bottle and like wine fruit-driven and complex, I'd look to enjoy this wine in the next 3 years. After that, I'm not sure this, like many of these 15-16% alcohol Aussie fruit bombs, will make pleasurable 'old bones'. I just don't have enough tasting experience of 10+ year old Shiraz other than Grange and Yalumba Octavius to have an experienced opinion.
Maybe Torb or Bressler can help us here?

| Sounds good MTP.
I'll just put it in the cellar and pop it when I want something a little different. I actually thought the apricot block had a bit more complexity than some other fruit bombs... hopefully the alices will too. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| In my experience, the most long lived had been the Roennfeldt Rd and Creek Block, with the 7 Acre doing well in good vintages. I think the Apricot is definately a drink young wine. I've not had the Alices, but I expect it is also a drink young wine. As the fruit fades away, I don't think there is complexity to replace it. | | | |
