Recommended by my retailer, bought 12/24, and drank thru yesterday
$32
Opened and decanted in glass 3hrs on day 1
Drank over next two days after vacuvin refrig storage
NYR by the pros

Color-inky dark purple
Aroma- plum and kirsch
Flavor-velvety blueberry infused black fruits with a dollop of glycerin in the midpalate, this is a dense still powerful wine that is less in your face and more elegant than the Two Hands and Mitolo offerings, though in some ways otherwise similar eg price, concentration, ripeness, and oak. Tannins are prominent but less obstrusive with time and the 14.5% alcohol is smoothed out given the full bodied fruit. Nice long glycerin filled finish, though still primary. This wine needed some time to open up, but once it did, it drank well for 3 days. It has the stuffing on first glance to last 10 or so years.
93-95+ pts
Very nice wine. 2-4 Pts better than the Kaesler Stonehorse 2002.
Most important, at this price (or anything around this), highly recommended to try and cellar.

It seems that 2002 was quite the year in the Barossa Valley down under. Can't wait till the Amon Ra Barossa comes in.

according to wine-searcher, those of you within driving range of northhampton, ma might be in luck. while the other retailers listed seem to have raised the price of this wine significantly, table & vine has it listed for $34.99. they only deliver within ma however.

others listed:

liquid partyworks, chatsworth, ca $45.99

varmax & sound shore liquid pantry $45.99
westchester county, ny

all star wine & spirits, ny, ny $64.99

Wow, Dr. T. You liked this one more than I did. Here is my tn from last night.

Inky black color with a pronounced nose of blackberry and mocha. Very extracted with huge gruff tannins and showing some raspberry and tar. Not overly complex but may be better in 4 years. jb Rating 89.

jb-

This wine improved several points on day 2 and 3. Did you give it time? This is very much in the same category as Mitolo, Two Hands etc.which I gave similar scores to, but is in fact several dollars cheaper. We tend to get a very good selection and prices on Oz wine here. FWIW, a friend who had the Massena 2001(not an 11th hour, but I guess a shiraz blend) said this is much much better bottle of wine.

mp-
I must have missed Parker's 94-97, which I presume is from barrel. Parker has been highly rating many of these full bodied styled Oz Shiraz wines. Some people fell he is overrating them. Who ever thought I would be more harsh than Parker?
I think 93-94 ish is most accurate for me, but at this price point, anything in this range(92-95) is well worth the dinero... ~$30.00!! + a few for tax. Perhaps, this is a " You either like them or you don't" style of wine. But this is varietally correct and a nice example of full bodied Shiraz.

I prefer this to many of the $30 Zins available here. I enjoyed this as much as some Cal. Syrah's of similar price and ratings.

Actually, no. We just pulled the cork and let it rip. No doubt about the concentration. Just didn't get a ton of complexity from it. Ojeffso liked it more than I did, though.

i really enjoyed this wine. 93+ for me. great concentration and not over trhe top. this is more in the mitolo/barton vale style. this style shouls show more complexity down the road.
