  • 2001 Leeuwin Estate Shiraz Art Series - Australia, Western Australia, Margaret River (1/22/2005)
Quite dark, this wine had quite thin legs as well. It smelled of dark fruits and a bit of caramel. This is a nicely balanced wine, with nice, but not in your face structure, delicious mouthfeel and a nice finish. It tasted of more dark fruits, particularly black raspberry, a bit of caramel (but really like really fresh caramel cremes), some faint mocha and a bit of froth(y dark fruit juice). Quite delicious. We got this as a gift from friends who trekked across Australia for 4 weeks last year. I'd rate it 91 solid TJ points. I wished they hauled back a case so I could steal it from them. (91 pts.)
