| $40
65% Shiraz;35% Cab.Sauvignon
NR
Wine store clerk rec.
Inky purple. Reticent nose of violets and dark berry. Chocolate with plum and pepper, a dollop of sweetness. Noticeable oak but not overbearing. Some tannin, but probably built for shorter term. This was very nice, but didn't yank the crank, but not a value at this price point. 90-91 pts
FWIW, as the Oz Shiraz's have grown more fruit forward, ripe in your face, my impression is that the addition of CS here gives this somewhat of a more rustic mid90's simple Shiraz style somewhat like Leasingham and Lehmann.

| dr. t,
did you decant it and if so for how long? i opened a bottle earlier this year and dumped it the decanter, drank one glass a bit later and wasn't impressed at all. i then went to bed and forgot it was in the cellar all night, still sitting in the decanter. the next night i went down, saw it and said what the hell i'll give it another try. boy did it ever change, what a great wine it was after 24 hrs in the decanter. i instantly ordered more. i'd slap it with a 93pt sticker. as for value, i got it for a better price than that, iirc somewhere in the $30's.

Admittedly, didn't decant.
My biggest problem was the price or QPR.

| Would you recommend 24 hours in a decanter to get the best out of this wine at this stage? | | | |

| the only thing i can say was this wine was better the second day after i "forgot" it in the cellar, still in the decanter. | | | |
