| WineTex, same thing happened to me with the 01 S2 at the double blind tasting with the Denver group. mbansek brought this wine and decanted it for about 4 hours beforehand. I guessed it was an Aussie Shiraz from the McLaren Vale or Barossa Valley areas. Much to my surprise when he revealed what it really was.
I did this same test with Mrs WIML on Friday night with the 02 S2. Double blind she guessed it was a Shiraz. Pretty amazing. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| I'm wondering if they put the S9 juice in both bottles for a "roogle" joke. Has anyone tried them side by side? | | | |

| Thanks, bud. I went down to the cellar to check and I only have one bottle of it. Based on what I've read, I want to wait a while for it. Maybe I'll just settle for a 2001 Highwire. | | | |

| Well, we'll have some reviews by the end of the month. I'm bringing a bottle of it (the Highwire) to a dinner in Florida on the 29th with rjs3, Rothko, Emilio, and spouses. | | | |

| 02 S2...yum...
i have run through 6 of these so far and i think i might get some more. for a mid $20's bottle of wine, i can't ask for anything more. it really needs about 2-4 hrs of air time to really loosen up.

| I opened another one of these last night. 92pts solid, but definitely drink it on the cooler side, as the alcohol becomes much more prevalent as it warms up. I'm down to my last few bottles and will definitely seek out some more. | | | |

| Popped one last night. Did not decant. mm88. While it seemed pretty balanced, the oak was a little awkward. | | | |

| - 2002 Marquis Philips Cabernet Sauvignon S2 - Australia, South Australia, McLaren Vale (2/16/2005)
This wine did not remotely resemble Cabernet. Both my husband and I thought it was Shiraz. Either way it was an unbalanced wine with the alcohol overpowering the finish.
[$25; Decanted one hour but it did not matter]

| Sorry to hear you did not enjoy this too much. I am holding 6 bottles & hope for better results...
But, it does seem that you liked it less than 86 points. 86 is not that bad, is it?

| No, 86 is definitely drinkable. If I graded it on how much I liked it the score would be vastly lower. High alcohol on the finish turns me off. This might be fine for others depending on their tastes. | | | |

| I was very disappointed with the way a bottle of this wine I had last week performed. It was definitely not up to par with the previous bottles. I think an 86 pt score would be accurate, and I had previously rated it 92pts. | | | |

| Opened one tonight - decanted for an hour. Disappointing - no oomph like I remember from last time. Very unidimensional (if that is an appropriate descriptor). Or, maybe my tastes are changing (see signature)
