| - 2004 Kangarilla Road Zinfandel - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/25/2008)
Unscrewed and poured. Deep purple hue. Fairly expressive nose of blackberry, blueberry, plus black & white pepper. Medium body with plus acidity. Started to integrate after a good 45 minutes in glass with real Zinfandel characteristics coming through on the spicy finish. Very enjoyable, maybe just a shade less than outstanding. However, at $17.95 retail this Aussie puts many overpriced, over-oaked, American Zins to shame. And again, I want to emphasize that this truly tastes like Zinfandel, not just another superficially fruity Aussie that has little true varietal flavor showing. (88 pts.)

| Thanks for the note! I'd been curious about Aussie Zins, but haven't tried one yet. | | | 2008: the end of an error | |
