Had at dinner with my Fam. Pop and Pour, although the pop was more of a shred, the cork wasn't in the best shape.
The first sip was sour and I thought it was past its prime. But that blew off in about 5 minutes to reveal a well balanced wine right at, or slightly passed its peak. Not a ton of fruit, but that is not what kind of wine this was. The fruit was well integrated with tannins and acid. It was intricate but not weak, no formal notes, just a very enjoyable food wine with family.
The wine has got a lot of spice and I think it was the perfect match for mediterranean food we had (fallafel, hummus, lamb & beef with interesting herbs and seasonings).
I would try to drink within a year, it will probably hold longer than that but it will be going down hill.
92 points when drank with med food :)
Much better than the Klinker brick zin I had earlier in the week - check out the california section for that.
