- 2004 Thorn-Clarke Shiraz Shotfire (Ridge) - Australia, South Australia, Barossa (7/23/2008)
Popped and poured. Still very dark in glass. Faint aromas of black fruits and black pepper, and oak.......nose seems completely shut down. Full in the mouth, the flavors are definitely a little more expansive than the reticent nose would indicate........cassis, plum, coconut, some other spices. Lush tannins, very smooth finish with some noticeable heat. Still very tasty. This wine seemed to benefit from air......after about an hour plus the nose was giving a little more.......I would say hold on for another few years and this should develop into a real treat.
