| Tasted double blind at Resurrection Cup I, 5/21/2005. From Greece.
Another mystery wine, this one brought by FreeTheGrapes, the master of bringing obscure wines made from obscure varietals from obscure regions to make the rest of us look foolish. We were not buying into it this time.
I am not even sure how to describe this wine, but it was very enjoyable. Spicy black fruits on the nose and on the palate, with a very nice medium finish, this wine had the elegance of a Burgundy, but without the tell-tale nose. This was highly enjoyable, but I am glad I did not voice my guess out loud. Nobody else did either, until after the unveiling, at which time another taster also admitted he had considered Burgundy. I think FTG mentioned paying about $14 for this bottle on closeout, and it is worth much more than that. Outstanding.
