2007 Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo Colline Novaresi il Mimo - Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Colline Novaresi (7/21/2008)
WIML86
Tasted July 21, 2008 at a double blind tasting.
Dark pink to light garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose heavily dominated by creosote. Flavors of black cherries, berries and raspberries. Tart acidity, light to medium body. Somewhat disjointed on the palate. Drink over the short term. My guess is a 2007 Malbec. (Boy did I blow this one. The creosote on the nose (i.e. similar to tar notes) and the flavors on the palate should have screamed Nebbiolo). This wine received 7 points in the voting, enough for 4th place. (86 pts.)
