| Kicking off November on the right note... - 2002 La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Clos des Soixante Ouvrées - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (11/2/2007)
Medium ruby in color - on first night I decanted 1/2 the bottle for one hour which proved to be beneficial. On the nose it was all sour cherries, Spices, cloves, minerals, with hints of underbrush and sous bois - utterly beguiling and seductive. On the palate the wine possessed good thrust with pretty red cherry flavors with a long minerally finish that finished with a hint of bitterness. This was one of those bottles that you nurse over the course of the evening, experiencing the different layers of flavors and aromas that revealed themselves over time.
And it was better on the second day, with the aromatics just shooting out of the glass like fireworks. A superb Volnay with a brilliant future. (94 pts.)

| What is your maturity estimate? I only bought this wine in magnum so I have not tasted it in order to form an opinion re needed cellar time. | | | |

| James, I am dying here. Here I am home alone with an open bottle of 2005 Bouchard Clos des Chenes (robbing the cradle) and you're off elsewhere popping open Pousse d'Ors. When my work schedule settles down (next week or so?), let's try to get our small group Burgundy thing going. | | | |

| I'm thinking of Will Smith saying, "That's what I'm talking about here...." Nice note. | | | |

| Dan, in magnum I think 10+ years is a safe time to start opening.
Dave, let me know what your schedule is like!
Winetex, word!
