What an amazing experience to taste a 47 year old Pinot! Amazingly, from a respectable lineup of Pinots, this was the only one I really cared for (and I'm a Pinot nut!).

Light brown/brick red, with a amazing nose for such an old Pinot. Intense roses, soft cherries, and underbrush aromas present on the nose. On the palate it is still sturdy and rich, in a light elegant, silky frame. Some caramel notes, and just very slight maderization noted. 93 points, drink now.

In many of the older (10+ years) Pinots I've had, I was able to pick up a distinct orange peel aroma. Any of that in this one?

I didn't detect any orange peel, but I wonder if my "maderization" is your "orange peel"? Entirely possible...
