Deeply colored with thin lightly pigmented legs. Plush and forward aromas of oak, sandalwood, deeply concentrated and candied plum and raspberry, some spice, and hints of vanilla, coffee, anise, and minerals. Plenty of fruit and offsetting acidity in the mouth. Fine length with finely grained though lingering tannin. Texturally, as all of Gros’ 2003’s are, the wine is very appealing. Gros’ parcel of Vosne Romanée is almost an acre in size with vines that can be up to a century old. Drink now (2009) to 2012. 90+ points.
