2001 Jean Boillot Volnay Fremiets (WIML90,WA91,NOWS)

Tasted October 19, 2005 at an offline so brief comments. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authentis Balloon Magnum glasses. Plum color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Aromas of black cherries, dried herbs, pencil lead, gravel and spice. Flavors of black cherries, black pepper, plum and black licorice. Balanced wine with a medium feel on the palate. Drink now with a little time in the decanter, maybe 30 minutes, to help kick start things. Should drink well over the next 2-3 years. One of the better Volnays I had at the tasting. Recommended.
