The local tasting last Friday was Pinot Noir. They had this one at the end as a by the glass selection. I don't have any formal notes, just my remaining impressions. Well, I wasn't going to pass up the chance to try it. All I can say is Wow. The nose on this one was just heavenly. Soft, elegant aromas of violets and earth. I didn't even want to drink it, just smell. After awhile, I finally tried a sip and it was a joy. Silky wine that just covered your mouth. This was serious wine. Guess I've discovered that I like good Burgandy.

Its a disease Jules. You will rue the day you became hooked on Burgundy. It can take you to the highest of highs (WOW!) and the lowest of lows ("they want to pass off this stuff as Grand Cru?"). Welcome along for the ride. It will be a wild and expensive one.

This is a great bottle of wine. I bought a few of these as a future for $60 a piece in the early nineties. Has always been a strong 92-94 point performer. Sadly all gone now. If you ever see the 90 Domaine Leroy Vosne Romanne Les Beaumonts don't miss it.

Ahh Jules - you reminded me of a good memory. I had this on our trip to Burgundy. I can still remember the nose on this wine as I sat there and smelled for a long time before sipping. Just terrific wine. Alas I was unsuccessful in purchasing any of it.
