Niagara, Ontario

Aromas of strawberry, burnt popcorn, and currant. Burnt rubber and popcorn protrude on the palate where they are joined by cherry and charcoal. Short finish, ~15-20s. "Blech" was heard a couple times at the table. Quite unpleasant. 74 points (08/07/2004).

The region West of Niagara. The building housing the tasting room is beautiful, but I have yet to taste a drinkable wine from Malivoire.

Yes, as Board-O said, this comes from Niagara. It's awful.

Futronic, let me know when you get down this way. We can visit a few Long Island wineries. Don't worry about getting drunk. You'll want to spit.

Hey ... would you look at that. All my identification just spontaneously combusted. Guess I can't cross the border! Sorry, Board-O.

It's funny you mention how the 2000 was awful; for some reason, I remember reading a similar account of some other Malivoire wines. I do remember hearing that the 2002 Pinot Noir sold really really well, apparently picked up by a number of restaurants. I never got a chance to try it, when I visited there a few months ago it was all gone.

Board_O, when did you last visit Malivoire? (and sub-question, if you remember, what did you sample?)

Little over a year ago. I have my notes in a drawer. I will try to find them later.
