I just got a letter from Gemstone Vineyards saying they were bought by Carole and Michael Marks.  I wish entrepreneurs would stop buying wineries.  I will predict the future: Production will go up a lot, quality will go down, the price will go slightly up.  Probably what will happen to Screagle too.  I guess the business model of Silver Oak is what makes the most money... have a famous name, then mass produce your wine at low cost and sell it as if it was a low production- high quality outfit.

Thus, the search for small, upcoming vins never stop for many here. Over the past 10-15 years I've dropped so many of the old timers & situations such as you describe.

Re, Gemstone specifically, my last purchase was the 01. Great, great people were the owners. But, the wine no longer was worth the price hikes (imo).
