| I bought these for my store initially, but each week, I choose a few for my personal consumption at home, (where wine always tastes better to me) and those are the few I chose last week for myself. I taste between 50 and 300 wines any given week. Very few make the cut to be brought home.

| 1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon Oenothèque - an OK price in a nice wood box. I'm such a tramp for the winery wood boxes. Much to my decorator's dismay I have them in my house in various places as decor. | | | |

| Dan: Your "What are you buying" posts are looking suspiciously like your "What are you drinking" posts. Me: A Nintendo Wii Console and a Wii Fit, both for my daughter. Both with bids on e-bay that were pretty good compared to other bids for identical items. But even so, there will be no more wine purchases for a while. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| LOL - many 05 Burgundies are arriving right now in SF so that's what I'm pulling from the cellar to taste (to see if I want to buy more although the wife has put the kibosh on that plan right now). Six more cases are getting delivered from Vinfolio tomorrow so another 05 is going down tomorrow night. | | | |

| Thankfully those six cases are already paid for futures but she doesn't really buy that line (even when its true!) so I'm hopeful I can get them into the cellar without her noticing... | | | |

| My 3-pack of Levy-McClellan arrived today (local delivery is low risk and convenient, but not always timely). Each bottle in its own wooden vault enclosed in layers and layers of packing material. The shipping charges on that package must be really scary! | | | |

| Si, Austin Wine Merchant. With case discount the prices were good. The store is literally at 60 degrees. They have jackets for the customers when you walk in. Gonna try the weird Neb tonight. | | | |

Not knowing how this was packaged, I had an enabling fellow forum member overnight my 3-pack to me. $117.86 up in smoke!

Reminds me of Dan's Wine Cellars, which I guess is now defunct. I bought some 2005 Jadot Bonne Mares from them.

| We visited some wineries recently -- something we rather embarrassingly rarely do. One doesn't play tourist enough in their own backyard. Here was the haul:
Round Pond is a new winery in Rutherford. This is probably one of the most incredible and beautiful facilities I've seen in a long time. The tastings ($25/person) are sit down affairs accompanied by little nibbles of freshly prepaired foods. (Disclaimer - Cary Gott, our winemaker, also makes Round Pond.) The haul: 2004 Round Pond Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Round Pond Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 Round Pond Sauvignon Blanc - I instantly proclaimed this wine to be this summer's house white. 2002 Round Pond Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 Round Pond Cabernet Sauvignon
Revana is another lovely winery but their tasting is limited by the fact that Revana only makes one wine. We would have only been able to taste one vintage of this one wine except that our gracious hostess offered a taste of the 2005 La Sirena Cab that winemaker Heidi Barrett dropped off earlier in the day. I strongly preferred the Revana but of note is the other couple in our party liked the La Sirena much more. My impression is this winery would be a far better visit by joining them on some of their exclusive events for mailing list customers rather than just setting up an appointment as we did. Then, I believe, more wines would be available for tasting. The haul: 2005 Revana Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 Revana Pinot Gris Alexana (a new Willamette Valley project)
Phelps is a lovely setting and the tastings are run in a progressive style: Your party moves from station to station where knowledgable staff pours different wines from the Phelps portfolio. Almost all wines were excellent. The "Fogdog" wines from the Phelps owned winery on the Sonoma Coast were particularly interesting as they were new to me. I picked up a couple of bottles of their Pinot and Chard to see the progression of this cold weather wine. The haul:
2005 Fogdog Vineyards Pinot Noir (Joseph Phelps / Sonoma Coast) 2005 Fogdog Vineyards Chardonnay (Joseph Phelps / Sonoma Coast) 2004 Joseph Phelps Insignia 2005 Joseph Phelps Syrah 2005 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
I have fond memories of Raymond as we etched bottles of their 98 Reserve Cab for our wedding. Their tasting was more belly-up-to-the-bar but the staff was friendly and knowledgable. The wines were not quite as tempting today as in the past but a couple showed really well. The haul: 2004 Raymond Vineyard & Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Generations 2003 Raymond Vineyard & Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon
Tastings here are conducted on a wooden board set up over a couple of barrels in their chai (barrel storage room). Again, great staff and all of the wines were stellar. I would be happy to own any of the many wines we tasted but this day's haul was: 2005 Corison Gewürztraminer Corazón 2003 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard 2001 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards
