|
2004 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (7/13/2007) Following the oxidized 375 I opened 1st, this 375 was great. Match really hits the sweet spot for us in terms of Napa cabs. Nose full of ripe dark cherries, red currants and licorice. These notes transition nicely to the palate, where the fruit gets a soaked in licorice type of presence that is wonderful. The tannins have mellowed nicely, but are still present to coat your palate on the finish. Great wine and producer that I think has only scratched the surface of its potential.
Side note: The cork on the 1st one had a waxy feel to it and not even a slight red stain on the end. Really strange and the 1st I've seen such a thing. (92 pts.) Posted from CellarTracker

|

2004 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (6/29/2007) One glass on day one and the rest on day 2 (this was a 375).
Nose of moist chocolate cake with raspberry cherry filling... a little bit of asian spice and some dusty pepper. really nice.
I taste more cherry notes than the 02 although with a little bit of the lushness that it had with the structure of the 03. a really nice meld of the two. Clearly will benefit from more time, but was very nice. (92 pts.)
Posted from CellarTracker

| Elkiholic, Please contact me via email at info AT matchvineyards DOT com. I unfortunately don't know the screen names for all my customers but if you bought the wine from us, I'd be happy to arrange a replacement bottle for that bad 375.
Sorry. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| You? Drink a wine young? We should call you DRAB Jr. Or would that be DRAB Sr? Posted By Budman on 07/25/2007 2:23 PM I'm tempted to pop an 04 just to see how they're drinking young. | | | |

| - 2004 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (9/15/2007)
the nose is so intense on this wine. again with the moist rich cake. moist juicy-ness but with that baked dryness that gives off some spice as well. The dusty dryness to the tannins are really a great contrast to the big fruit in this. great! (92 pts.)
Posted from CellarTracker this was a 375. Easily a 92...

| We were not impressed by a 375 of this wine opened a couple of months ago as it had a pronounced green streak. Happily last night's bottle was more what we were expecting from this Cab. Tasty. - 2004 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (1/31/2008)
Dark garnet in color; Aromas of blackberry and vanilla with cherry and spice flavors. Structurally very sound, balanced and quite stylish. Medium weight for a cab. It was still a baby and definitely has upside potential. Maybe a touch hot on the finish? [Decanted about 30 minutes and definitely needed it] (90 pts.)

| 2004 Match Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Butterdragon Hill - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (7/26/2008) WIML92,PURPLE92
Tasted July 26, 2008.
Consistent with previous bottle although fairly opened for business this time around. Opened and served immediately. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of plums, black berries and black cherries. Maybe some cocoa or dark chocolate aromas as well. Flavors of black cherries, plums black berries and a little currant on the medium to long finish. Medium acidity, moderate tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold. I have two remaining bottles that I'll consume in 2010 and 2012. | Last night's bottle had the green streak that a previous bottle did not have. We had a 375 in the past with it as well. Has anyone else noticed this in this wine? Even after the decant it was very prominent.
