| Does anyone else think this might be a tough sell? Everything looks OK until the part I highlighted in red below. ************* Christopher's Fine Wines is very excited to announce the Grand Opening of our brand new, 24,000 bottle minimum capacity, 55 degree, professional wine storage cellar:
Included in the cost for the professional storage of your fine wine we include: professional inventory analysis of your stock: - we track your wine's country of origin, region, appellation, specific cuvee name, vintage, professional critic's scores (Parker, Tanzer, Burghound, etc) and suggested windows of drinkability as offered by those critics...we enter this information into our new computer database and you have your own passcode to access your data any day we're open!
the maintaining of your wine at a constant 55 degrees 365 days per year
- we can guarantee this as our 24,000 bottle cellar was designed by the architectural firm of David D Foster, DDFAIA and includes 2x6 highly insulted walls and ceiling, an independent, 5 ton AC unit with generator back up and constant monitoring.
and access to your wines 6 days per week
- you may access your collection any day of the week that we are open and you may also enjoy the use of our facilities to drink your fine wines with friends or family. Our brand new event room is very private or you may enjoy your wine at one of our cocktail tables in the main retail section.
Naturally, there are many more benefits to cellaring your wine at Christopher's Fine Wines - professional guidance on your selections, exclusive selections not found in the general stores, outstanding pricing on pre-arrival offers - and the best news is that all of these perks will run you just:
$3 per case per month!
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know...
The cellar is complete and there's room for your cases - for now...
PLEASE NOTE - ONLY WINES PURCHASED FROM CHRISTOPHER'S FINE WINES CAN BE CELLARED AT OUR STORE - WE HAVE A RETAIL LICENSE AND JUST AS WITH OTHER LICENSE HOLDERS, WE DO NOT ALLOW WINE FROM OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS ONTO OUR LICENSED PREMISES...

| Tough?? How about impossible. First, you have to assume that a person wanting (and needing) this service is serious about wine. Next, you have to assume that they have a large inventory, as anyone with 400 or fewer bottles can (and should) have a stand-alone cooling unit in their house that takes up little space and costs less over the long term than offsite storage fees. And finally, you have to assume that the people described above buy their wine from many sources, including direct from the winery. No one that I know that is so serious about wine that they need off site storage buys enough wine from one place to warrant such storage. Just for kicks, take a look at CellarTracker and sort your wine by "Store". What is the largest number of bottles that you have from any one merchant (not counting "Direct from the winery or the verbal equivalent")? Now, does that much wine warrant storage at $36 per case per year? | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| Not too mention that the proprietor in question sources some great wines including Burgundies that he then marks up 40-60%. I think he counts on people having more money than sense. Perhaps he's right? This is not someone that I have any good things to say about other than he knows his Burgundies. | | | |

| I've always said that there are a million ways to make a buck. And P. T. Barnum said that there is a sucker born every minute. Someone will use this service... maybe. | | | |

| When I hit that 24,000 bottle mark, I'm sure other arrangements will already have been made. The enabler will have arranged storage for ME!!! | | In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is...

You'd be surprised what people will store in those offsite facilities. I lease a bit of floor space in one of those places to store a 30 gallon barrel of syrah I made last year plus a few gallons of topping wine in glass carboys. I pass by the lockers for storing bottled wine on my way to the back room and I like to glance at people's collections. One locker in particular always catches my eye. It's filled with a mix of bud light cans and Korbel sparkling wine. Most people only have a few cases there and I see a lot of wines you can easily find at a supermarket: Jordan, mid-range BV and Beringer, etc.
