Joel Gott Wines Spring 2003 Mailer

2000 Gott Syrah - $50.00 per
2001 Pelkan Syrah - $35.00 per
2001 Dillian Zinfandel - $25.00 per
2001 California Cab - $15.00 per
2002 Napa Sauv Blanc - $15.00 per

Prices look good, not familiar with wines.

I enjoyed the 98 gott syrah and the 99 even more. in some years the SB is great, but not always. Joel buys the wine on the bulk market and blends the final result. No doubt gets a tip or two from the Mrs.

Brent, I'm sure you're aware of the thread in Tasting Notes about the Gott Cab. I've not tasted the others, but I know lots of people like the Zins. My impression is that at least some of the wines in the mailer are available in stores for less money.

Those are retail prices. Wines are excellent though. I have had them Zins, Cabs and SB and all are great values. We sell out of everything very quickly.

Gott wines are generally available in the market, so this is a pass from the list imo.

Brent, I picked up a bottle of the '02 Gott SB at BevMo for $14. I generally spend my SB dollars on NZ or Loire wines, but the Gott is nice. Melon and lemon on the nose, rich and creamy on the palate, with refreshing crispness and no significant oak that I could detect. Nice minerally finish. I'd buy it again, but it seems like it's available at retail, so no need to do the mailer thing.

FYI, Gott SB does not go through oak. More NZ in style than Cali, definitely.
