| I am not the biggest Cab Franc fan myself but I very much enjoyed the wine from barrel. I have not yet opened one of the bottles to try it from bottle as yet. Look for a from the bottle review in the next issue of Oeno-File. | | | |

| Just got their mailer and wanted to see if anyone had comments/thoughts on this wine.
2002 Oakville Cabernet Franc - 155 cases; $35/btl 2002 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon - 325 cases; $45/btl, $100/magnum 2002 Horton East Block Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon - 25 cases; $65/btl
The prices seem very reasonable. Any thoughts on what's in the bottle?

| I've had the 01 Franc, and while I think it still needs more time, I quite like it. Given that and the strength of the 02 vintage, I will order some (if and when I get the mailer ;-).
02 cab??? I haven't even bottled mine yet!
They make their wine over at the Copain facility in Healdsburg (along with Carlisle and DuMOL and a few others).

| The grape sources for the Detert wines are, well, amazing. The vineyards are not only part of the original To-Kalon vineyard, Mondavi's own literature even shows them as part of their To-Kalon holdings!
The cab franc from Detert Vineyard has gone into Mondavi Reserve cab for more than 25 years. Detert cab and cab franc were a part of Opus One until their estate vineyards came online in the late '80s. The Detert and Horton grapes were the major component of Mondavi's 1996 30th anniversary cab.
The Horton East Block is something very special. Grapes from many of those vines went into the first Mondavi cab in 1966, and they have been a major component of Mondavi Reserve cabs since the inaugural 1971.
Not bad...

| Looks like these wines can be ordered on-line without being a mailing list member. www.detert.com. | | | |
