| i got the mailer too. as a newcomer to siduri and novy, it's difficult to say what to buy. the siduri sonoma county pinot might be a good deal -- a good house pinot. but i am unsure what to make of the hirsch pinot. in the mailer, adam lee describes 2005 as being difficult for this vineyard and, as a result, the wine developed more "forest floor/stem flavors" as well as some "wet stone." as for the novy SLH syrah, has anyone had any experience with this? | | | |

| probably pass. maybe the zin. 4 allocated. may need the 2 syrahs as well, just to even out the shipping case.
i've found if i don't order ASAP, i get better at passing. if i sit on the idea for a week or three, i usually come out a bit better level headed.
plus they could always sell out by the time i decide....

| Interesting note on wine pricing in the Siduri mailer:
"With Pinot Noir’s popularity at an all time high we believe that it is important to make a few points about wine pricing:
The cost of making a wine is going up. Specifically, grape prices are going to go up. We already seen price increases from several of our growers. Of course, we expect that grape prices will go up some and we want all of our suppliers to make a decent living. But we seeing price increases from some suppliers of 25% and more. That, combined with increases barrel prices and transportation costs, is going to put upward pressure of wine prices.
Some wineries are going to take this opportunity and respond to this pressure by significantly raising their prices. Don’t be surprised to see $60, $70, and even $80– Pinot Noir to become even more commonplace.
At Siduri we have often thought our ourselves as much as wine consumers as winemakers. And, as wine consumers, nothing bothers us more than to discover that a wine we purchased last year at $50 per bottle is now priced at $70 per bottle. Quite frankly, we usually shred those mailers.
So how do these sentiments and economic pressures play themselves out at Siduri? Our goal to produce the finest possible wines, sparing no necessary expense, while keeping our prices fair. We may, indeed, have to raise our prices. But what you will see from us are price increases of $1 or $2 per bottle - not $10 or $20. We hope that these modest price increases help us keep up with inflationary pressures and allow you to keep purchasing our wines."

| Eric,
The SC is flat out a great wine at a great price. In 2005 Unca Adam has produced the greatest group of wines I've ever tasted from him. I don't believe most tasters would even recognize them as being Siduri. Mr. Lee has let the character of each vineyard speak for themselves. Back up the van!
To ignore his 2005's is committing Pinot-Suicide................

| I additionally love the fact that Siduri has a few of their regular bottlings available in splits. The half bottle format is perfect for when the wife isn't drinking the same as me. | | | |

| Tasted the 2005 Sonoma County at the winery today. Much more depth and earth than I associate with Siduri, which is welcome. A bit disjointed (recently bottled), but worth pursuing for the price. | | | |

Sonoma Coast or Sonoma County? I don't think that they are making a Sonoma Coast any more. The Sonoma County is on the current mailer.

Sonoma County, sorry. They are making a 2005 Sonoma Coast, but I didn't taste that.
