| Where did they obtain these wines? Provenance is of utmost importance, especially following hurricanes and power outages. | | | |

| I think that I recall seeing a post last year from someone that was selling hurricane damaged wine. Does that ring a bell with anyone? | | | |

| Yes, I saw that same set of posts Dave. I believe that he was required to identify himself as acting on behalf of an insurance company though. If a dishonest purchaser decided to sell the wines he might not give a full account of the prior provenance. | | | |

| Many of those wines (the insurance hurricane wines being discussed) were, at some point, stored at Imperial in West Palm, where MLV and I were forced to store our wine after Hurricane Wilma last year.
I have no idea where ABC got these wines.

according to the wine guy at the store, all of them come from their wharehouse in Orlando, which was NOT affected by hurricaines. I told him that I'll check each and every bottle on my order before the money change hands. | | | http://NothingControversial.com

| They were phenomenal after the hurricane. If I recall correctly, Wilma hit on Monday. We store our wines at our house but have no generator. We kept the temperature down in the Eurocaves, but as it crept up and as they were predicting we might be without power for a couple weeks, MLV explored options and found they had a huge generator, that we could store the wine short term there and that we could coordinate dropping them off easily. It was schlep for us, and with the gas issue would have preferred something closer, but it seemed to be the best option by far. We took the wines there on Wednesday after the storm, loaded it into lockers, toured around (there are some very impressive collections stored there), and a few weeks later picked everything back up.
The experience was perfect under the circumstances.

| Great! I feel much better knowing it. They told me they have 4 days supply of Diesel fuel and gas station across the street, I rented 18 box cage.
I wasn't in FL during Wilma and had mine in the garage with windows covered. When we got home 10 days later, the temp inside the wine fridges was 78F but...not a single leaker, or even stains on the inside of the corks.
We finished most of "golden oldies" we had there this year, "just in case".
Thanks for your report. | | | http://NothingControversial.com

| I've heard good things about Imperial, and have a buddy who stores his wine there and is happy with them.
I keep mine at the Store Room, which is nearby, and also has backup generators, etc...
As for the ABC sale, is ABC taking orders, or do you have to show up and buy what they have in the store?
Also, Serge, can you give some sample prices?

| I stopped by ABC this weekend. The local store had none of this, and didn't think that Orlando had much left either.
Oh well.... | | | |
