I know this is a long shot, but on the off chance there are some budding winemakers in our midst.

I just received an email from a winemakers distribution list offering:

"...between three to four tons of Cabernet Franc on the vine (23-24 Brix) in Sonoma. They need to be picked! Would consider all terms. These vines have produced some great wines. Please call and lets talk.

Would consider getting some of the finished wine in trade for the grapes
OR any Ideas because the grapes came in so late this year."

If you happen to be interested, let me know and I'll pass on the contact info.

I suspect there will be a lot of grapes left hanging this year. Tanks are still full from last year's huge crop, and last week's rain and subsequent mold/rot/botrytis problems are likely to make some wineries walk away from their grower contracts.

Yeah, but this particular lot has been hanging a little too long by now.

Saw this ad on craigslist for more grapes:

Pinot Noir grapes

Merlot grapes

Cabernet

Zin, PS, & Merlot

Shame to see all these go to waste if nobody makes wine out of them.

I'm looking for super cheap or free fruit that is not selling for my winemaking education. I managed to get some free Pinot this year but am looking for other variteals or more pinot to try some blending.
I will trade back finished juice. I have a couple more barrels that need to be filled. Let me know if anyone hears anything. My bins will be free for more work this weekend hopefully.
Thanks,
Mr. Cheap

This is a scary story for some major (or at least well-known) vineyards...

Many listings for '06 fruit. While mother nature caught some folks others simply totally over-produced.
