I'm going to an auction saturday and I put down what I want to bid on the wines that I am familiar with, but there are a few that I'm not sure about. What would you bid for the following? (750ml unless noted)
2002 Hampton Cab Franc
2001 Robert Pecota Kara's Vineyard
2001 Robert Pecota Kara's Vineyard
2001 Truchard Pinot Noir
1983 Stags Leap Cask 23 (5L)
2002 Snowden Cab
2003 Snowden Cab
2001 La Jota Cab
2001 Howell Mountain Vineyards Cab
1983 Guenoc Lake County Cab (6L)
1984 Far Niente Cab
2001 Emilio's Terrace Reserve Cab
2001 Cain Five
2001 Cliff Lede Stags Leap District Cab
2001 Cliff Lede Stags Leap District Merlot

I don't know the prices of the wines, but the 1983 Cask 23 5 liter sounds intriguing.

There isn't a single wine on the list that I find compelling. I'm sure that most would be fine, but only if I could get them cheap, i.e., $25-$40. If this is a charity auction, however, people usually pay way more than the wine is worth. My advice: exercise restraint!

Another thing I've learned from charity auctions: Be careful how much you drink. You may end up with some... unusual items
