just got the offer from paloma for 03' merlot and syrah

03' merlot $51 each (10% off with cases)
03' syrah $42 each
03' merlot mag in etched and hand painted bottle $165

i usually buy everything they offer but i might skip on the mag this year....i thought that 02' was the last vintage for the syrah

If I get a first round offer this year it's yours. You can buy one of mine.

Greetings:

2004 is the last vintage for the syrah. There was some confusion last year as to whether the winery meant 2004 being the last year for the syrah meant the release in 2004 or the vintage in 2004: they meant the vintage. So there's one more coming, and then that's it.

Cheers,

Arvin

Auto & BellaDonna (and everyone else),

Now that the Wine Spectator Wine of the Year madhouse is over, Paloma should be relatively easy to find at retail in most states.

Richard

[Full disclosure: I'm a retailer who sells many great wines, including Paloma.]

Richard,

At, above, or below mailer prices, IYO?

Unless things have changed dramatically in the past few months, the 2003 Paloma merlot will only be available in a couple states outside California. Due to replanting, production will not return to 2001 levels until the 2007 vintage.

If bought at retail within California, the 2003 Paloma merlot will likely cost less than the mailing list price. At the few retail locations it's sold outside California, it will likely cost more.

Yes, twice out of barrel and then two weeks ago at Family Winemakers. It follows in the lush style that Bob Foley started at Paloma, as opposed to the slightly more serious, structured wine they made in 2001. I like it quite a bit as a drinkable merlot, less so as an ageworthy red wine.

It probably depends on where you are - it wouldn't surprise me to see some retailers in the rest of the country charge a premium, but I expect everyone in California to charge the winery price or maybe a couple of dollars less.

I had it at Family Winemakers as well. I wholeheartedly agree that this not a wine to age.

Dan et al-

I assume most comments thus far have regarded the merlot. What about the syrah?
Thanks.

I bought a case of the 2001 from the winery and then bought a case of the 2002 from their mailer. But still haven't gotten this offer yet....

Assuming this is a tiered release, has the next wave gone out yet?
