Got this email today:

Dear Steve,

Carolyn and I are very excited to be launching the maiden vintage of the Hourglass Blueline vineyard wines.  A description of the project was sent in an email to you at the end of September, and we include a link to tasting notes on the first page of the offer.

Please note that we have made a very small amount of each wine available on a first come first served basis.
The offering will close on December 12, and the wines are scheduled to ship the last week of February.

You have the option of noting additional requests in the box next to your ordered amount.  These "wishlist" requests will be processed if there are any unclaimed allocations at the end of the release and will also be sorted on a first come first served basis from the time you place your order.  Additional grants will not be issued until after the general release is concluded and will appear in a separate order.

Following the email link to their website, there's this:

Welcome Steve Carson!
Here is your allocation for the 2008 December Blueline Release season.

We are very excited to be launching the maiden vintage of the Hourglass Blueline Vineyard wines.

Please find the tasting notes for the three varietals here. Note that we have made a very small amount of each wine so they will be available on a first come first served basis. The Cabernet Franc is available by wish list only.

This offering season will close on December 13 and the wines are scheduled to ship the last week of February.
Thank you for your continued support of Hourglass.

Allocations below are in 3 bottle bundles for 750s

All are 2006 vintage, prices are per 750 mL

3 x Cab Sauv = $375
3 x Merlot= $225
1 x Cab Franc = $135

my question is, anyone know anything about these?  Have they been reviewed, written about, or rated?  I'm not plunking down this kind of $ for total unknows.

I got this offering a while ago I believe. I have not seen any professional reviews.

I don't believe there have been any professional reviews, but a tasting of all their current wines, with some other Foley wines, was held last month in LA. The group liked the wines and concluded that the Hourglass wines were distinctly different, but not necessarily better, than the other Foley wines. They liked the regular Hourglass a little better than the new Blueline. The new Blueline vineyard is just across from the Switchback vineyard. Personally, I decided to continue to buy Switchback and pass on the Hourglass because of the big difference in price.

Got an email from Hourglass a few days ago. They said they've been getting lots of inquiries about this Blueline series (probably people asking, why should I pony up $125/per on something that has no track record and that I've never heard about). Apparently Laube recently gave the Cab a 97, no word on the other 2.

Still, I'm waiting on my next paycheck to pay my mortgage, so it's still a no-go for me.

The offering closed December 12 or so, a few days before Laube's 97. I tried to login afterwards and there was no allocation to be had.

I guess some are buying, but it won't be me.
