Here is the first of what will probably prove to be many.  This company used to be called "Christopher's Wine Warehouse" in Houston.  Be glad if you don't own any of these futures.

Thanks to all for the kind words, they've meant a lot...

To the negative campaigners, keep your notes to yourself, they're only a reflection of your own affected lives...

There are many folks to whom Bordeaux "futures" are due.

These Bordeaux were paid for to a company named Misa Imports based in Dallas TX. Christopher's Wine Warehouse, the corporation, has made demands for either the delivery of the wine or a full refund of your monies. To date, Misa has not performed on this demand.

Misa Imports will now join us in the Bankruptcy Court and will be subject to the decisions of the Trustees.

A class action suit will more than likely follow.

Tomorrow, the 29th, and again on Tuesday the 2nd, if any cases remain, we will open up to liquidate the final 25-50 cases remaining.

Everything left will be offered at 50% off on the case.

We will close the doors and our business officially on the 15th.

Please be advised, as previously mentioned, that any cases remaining in the store after the 10th become the property of the Trustees of the Bankruptcy Courts.

Ouch! I truly feel sorry for those who have lost their money...

And it's even more disheartening to think that we've only reached the tip.

Ouch Ouch. That really does suck.

Obviously, the lesson is to be very careful with whom you do futures purchasing; but the fact is that there is almost no way of knowing for sure if even one of the "big name" companies might fail.

This business was very established and voted one of the best wine stores in Houston. I know a few people who purchased futures there.

Most likely there was a mitigating factor in this business failure - the cash flow problems probably started with the business disruption from Hurricane Ike. They were out of power and on genny power for at least two weeks but during that time there was not very much wine buying. The company in Dallas not making good on the Bdx futures is unrelated. Ouch.

Afternoon,

My name is Christopher Massie, the owner of Christopher's Wine Warehouse, dba Cepage Noir Wine Co. (CNWC was our web-store). After the totally un-expected and overwhelmingly heartwarming outpouring of support from more than 200 clients, we were able to work through a mountain of issues that began with the pummeling we took at the hands of IKE and continued through the economic downturn we all as Americans are suffering. And while the store is but a mere shell of what it once was, at least we are hobbling forward, and not completely closed at this point. As for the Bordeaux futures, because we had pre-paid for these wines, to the tune of nearly $90,000, the importer is legally bound to deliver. We have been promised that, now that our credit crisis has been lifted, these wines are going to be delivered this week (the 8th of December). This has been one heck of a ride, but we survived 9/11; surely we can survive this...

Thank you for allowing me the time to speak on this matter,
Christopher Massie
