| For those of you who like Alcina, they are currently selling 2006 RRV for $15.99. I just picked up 6. Tim

| And when I was there yesterday, they had more than 120 bottles of it available. Times are tough... Tim

| Indeed. Best Buy just said today that it is the "most challenging" env they have ever seen. And, lowered their outlook going forward... | | | |

| I was going to post something too, but my better judgment kicked in as well (rare for me). In my case it would have been "cheap, but no bargain". | | | |

| It's OK to give a bad review of this wine. What's the scoop? | | | |

| My guess is that it has more to do with the winemaker than the wine. (I've had the wine and thought it was okay, although I'd be very surprised if it was 100% Pinot Noir.) Greg P. can be charming in person and has his defenders, but he has an abrasive on-line personality that has gotten him banned for life from eBob, West Coast Wine Net and even VinoCellar. The man just doesn't know when to back off or shut up. Richard | | | |

| I did say in my original post "For those of you who *like* Alcina" . Seriously though, the point of my original post was to notify my on-line friends of what I perceive to be a pretty good bargain. I understand the frustration and feelings some have towards Greg. I was caught up in that whole no-response/non-delivery problem too (for this very wine no less). But here's a chance for some of us to get a pretty good Pinot for $15.99! It's not his best Pinot by any means but it's pretty good. IMHO, it certainly blows the doors off of any other Pinot that is less than $16. (Although I must admit, I don't believe I've actually ever had a Pinot that cost less then $16 so maybe I shouldn't make such a claim). At this price I bought it for some of my "every day" lineup.
Just hoping to save some folks a few bucks here during these rough economic times. Enjoy,
Tim

| Tim, I appreciate the notice. I wouldn't have seen this or the Italian blowout without the posts. I have nothing at all against Greg P. I just don't like his wines. | | | |

| And now for the rest of the story ......
A sales rep just came into the store with this wine and some additional details. What she was told was that Geg P. wasn't able to pay the bill at the custom crush facility so they've impounded the wine and are selling it off to try to recoup some of their out-of-pocket expenses. Don't know if it's true or not but that would certainly explain the "close-out" pricing.
I did try the wine again and while it's not classic pinot, it does drink pretty well. Now I've got to decide whether or not to buy it for the store. The price would be $14.99/bottle or $12.99/bottle by the case. Decisions, decisions.
