| I still look forward to this one, but my bank account? Not so much  I've been good this fall. I cut back on everything else by 20-50% so that I'd have some budget left over so bring it on!

We have a local spot up here where we used to BYOB until the state inspector showed up one morning and found a patrons bottle behind the bar without the state sticker on it. $15,000.00 fine. | 3 tier means it passes through 3 separate pairs of hands. Supplier->Distributor-Retailer (some say Distributor->Retailer->Consumer but it's actually 1 level above that because it's 3 levels of distribution of the product before it arrives to the consumer). Historically before all of the lawsuits virtually all liquor was required to go through each level. When prohibition was repealed these were the rules put into place in order to protect the monopolies that control liquor distribution.
Yep, when we brought in at that restaurant the restaurant violated the law allowing it. They could of been fined. The laws in Texas are a little complex depending on the type of permit the restaurant obtains from the state but in short if a restaurant has a license that allows them to sell distilled spirits then they can't allow BYOB. If they have any other license they can allow it. Unfortunately, there is a ton of confusion about this in the state so most restaurants that hold any form a liquor license just flat out won't allow you to BYOB.
Who are they protecting? The distributors. Period. Anybody tells you anything else they're lying. Why does the state's politicians continue to allow the distributors to make money hand over fist with their state protected monopolies?
