(from email, TN's not included)

Welcome!

I am extremely excited and proud to introduce to you my 2007 pinot noir single vineyard release. It's hard to believe, but the 2007 release marks my fifth year of producing fine wines. 5 years...WOW...a milestone! The last five years have brought so many changes and challenges. I, for one, never imagined I would be working with some of the greatest California pinot vineyards and eventually have my own winery in the city of San Francisco! It really does feel like yesterday I was riding the elevator at 4am to my finance job trying to figure out a way to make winemaking my next career. The dream was eventually brought to life with help from extremely generous pinot pioneers, lots of hard work, great press and an incredible fan base! I have done my best to improve/polish my winemaking skills over the years as I continue to strive for perfection. Winemaking is a bit of a battle in this regard as there is only one shot a year to "get it right"! All kinds of things have changed in the last 5 years including vineyards, cooperage's, winemaking style, and costs. I have done my best to improve the quality of my wines over time while only taking modest price increases to offset the higher cost environment we're currently faced with.

This past spring I went on the road once again and crossed the US market, participated in some exciting wine events/tasting's, visited with many new and old faces and heard first-hand feedback on my wines. With some great press in recent publications like Wine Spectator and Pinot Report, my mailing list has grown significantly this past year. I hope to meet with many of you in my travels during Spring of 2009. I'm planning to make quite a few stops (new and old) so be on the look out for my "Spring Tour IV"! Tickets are going fast, again...J

In my opinion, the 2007 wines are another great achievement of mine. In fact, they just might be the best 2007 vintage wines I have ever made! ;) In 2007 I continued to experiment with different winemaking techniques from other vintners in California and now around the world (Kiwi's!) to further define my style! 2007 provided quite a unique growing season as growers were faced with drought conditions in many areas which, combined with lighter crop yields, produced small cluster, lower yielding pinot fruit. These conditions produced super rich, balanced, velvety structured wines. As I mentioned in the last release, my use of stems will always be vintage dependent. Three of the 2007 wines have a percentage of stem use through whole cluster fermentation. Only certain vintages produce riper stems which have the potential to add components of complexity and structure...the experimenting continues! I do hope you enjoy drinking these wines as much as I enjoyed making them! All 2007 wines are proudly closed with Stelvin screw cap closures and require no tools to open!

He has kept prices stable, which is great. I don't think I've mentioned this, but I already have too much wine.

I'll be buying a mixed case. All I have left for this fall is KB and Sandler, and Andrew's wine is a no-brainer with me. He supports my February event, so I have to support him! It's a bonus that his wines kick ass!

Sea Smoke and Rhys may have to get passed over this time around. Hopefully Sea Smoke has already downgraded me to a C4...;-)

I'm buying a mixed case. Can't afford to wait to see if it makes it to retail.
Andrew mentioned that his mailing list has increased, and his production has not.

It is impossible to find it at retail here in DC.  I'll probably buy a little, and let a friend piggy back on my mailer to get some that she wants.  However, I'm not buying as much as I used to, but then I'm cutting way back on my purchases anyway.

I love Andrew's wines... especially the Turner. Enjoyed the hell out of his 06 Kanzler, as well. Going to see if I can fence enough to buy a couple of bottles of each. I've got my review at 9 AM today, so we'll see :-P

Hi All,
Thanks for the kind words and support over my 5 year winemaking career! Really appreciate it.
I'm extremely happy with the 2007 wines! Let me know if anyone needs/wants Ed's tasting notes (they are also posted on my website) as I am very proud of them. Any questions just ask away!

Thanks.
Andrew
