| Hey - I figured we need a thread to deal with all those mailers that are not deserving of their own thread. Here are the ones I can list: Dain
Pali - Interesting as the pricing structure heavily rewards those buying a case or more... Neal - Love the wines... I just have too much
Big Basin - Great syrah, but... you know the drill Jean Edwards Cellars -- I can't remember why I signed up for this list. I wish I could remember...
Turley - I have friends that love this stuff and will buy all they can get. I wish I liked Zinfandel more than I do...

| Posted By Dave on 08/31/2008 7:26 PM You are a piker. Only when it comes to California produced wines. My purchases of Champagne, Italian and Spanish wines are definitely on the rise. Daddy got rocks.

| Well, without a doubt I've been focusing on Champagne since last December. I've managed to grow it to about 7.5% of my cellar or around 8 cases and still growing. I have a decent mix of NV and vintage with about 40% NV at this point and the balance vintage. I'm focusing mostly on building up the vintage numbers right now and replacing the NV as I consume it. My ultimate goal is to get it to and keep it around 10% of the cellar. Besides NV I have vintages of 1982, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002 scattered between Salon, Dom Perignon, Krug, Taittinger, Heidsieck, Philliponnat, Pol Roger, Gosset, Pommery, Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot and as of late some growers as well.
Italy and Spain are not growing as quite as fast and intense as Champagne because it still has the focus but it's growing in spurts as well. I expect Italy to make a nice tick up in October when we visit Toscana e Piedmont. We already have 1 or 2 cases of old vintage Baroli set aside for the trip hope that just need to pick up while there. We'll build on that starting in the New Year once I get Champagne where I finally want it.
I did this same thing with Oregon last year. grew it to about 10.5% of my cellar in the span of 12 months. I fix a weakness in my cellar and then move onto the next one. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| I'm guessing the 1996 tasting is still a few years down the road. Most of those bad boys need time IMHO. Looking forward to it though! | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| My main issue now is no money. If that problem gets cured, then I intend to stock up on 2002 Champagne and devote my wine budget to Piedmont. Right now it is 21 bottles and it should be about 10 times that much. Did I mention that money was a problem?

| Well, I bought Dain, Karl Lawrence, and Jean Edwards, and will continue to buy the K-B. I'm passing on Radio-Coteau this time since I will probably only buy the Savoy PN when it is offered. I passed on Pali, A Donkey and Goat, A.P. Vin, Loring, WesMar, Siduri, and several others. My problem is that I have too much wine now that my doctor has strictly limited my permitted intake. I am going to focus on wines that I can put away for at least 5 years, and those wines that my wife just insists that I buy (like theKosta Browne, Dain and the Savoy) I will probably focus more on Italian wines and Champagne in the future. | | | |

| I notice AP Vin was mentioned a couple of times. Actually, I think his yearly release is tomorrow, ie he hasn't yet sent out a mailer.
