As an FYI - I had a friend stop by Rochioli last week and they were selling "a $90 pinot" at the counter. Don't have any more details, other than that sounds like the West Block...
We were there today, and asked the staff about this possibility. They said that would never happen. They did say they release some special bottles to the tasting room at Thanksgiving, but outside of that, they only have the mainstream stuff in the tasting room. There were quite adamant that a SVD would never make it to the tasting room. I think your friend was joshing you.
They did sell us a bottle of 2006 "Ranch Red" that they said will only be available to list members. It's a 50/50 combo of Zin and Syrah. These are newer estate plantings, that may become SVD's at some point. We had it tonight with dinner, and it was excellent. It was $28. We'll be buying more!
