Since we are going down this Road, another 1 to think about (for fun):

1. Red Devil (the few times that a bartender actually knows it).
2. Cosmos.
3. Long Island Ice Tea.
4. Vodka Cranberry.
5. Sex On The Beach (I am still talking about Drinks here folks )
6. Tequila Sunrise.

Oooo.. Red Death is another... or is that the same thing?
I also like 7&7 as an easy drink, but LI Ice Teas Rule.... if made correctly in the pint glass.
If you drink wine, you get smarter....

Sidecar :

Brandy
Cointreau
Lemon juice
lemon twist served in a martini glass w/ sugar around the rim (usually)

Sazerac:

coat a chilled rocks glass with pernod or absenthe (or absinthe if you're brave)

in another glass, crush one cube sugar with a tiny bit of soda water to help dissolve the cube; add a few drops Peychaud (must be Peychaud, Angostura will not work) bitters to the disolved mixture

shake to chill a standard jigger of rye whiskey (it must be rye) and pour into the glass w/ the sugar and bitters; swirl to mix and pour into the glass coated w/ pernod; sometimes garnished with lemon twist

trust me, it's worth it.

Mojito:

light rum based drink w/ mint, served in a collins glass usually in warmer climates - i thnik it originated in Cuba? maybe?

i'm not sure of all the ingredients, but it's a pretty standard drink so the recipe should be available in any bar book or on the net

Gimlet, my man. Ketel One w/ a splash of fresh lime juice on the rocks. That's my going out dancing drink of choice. I also love a REAL margarita made w/ Cuervo 1800, Cointreau, and fresh limejuice. No mix crap.

You know for having these great palates for wine, you guys sure like the sweet drinks (LIT's Red Devil/Deaths, Sex on the beach, etc).

As for the Mojito, yes it is Cuban. Any other Mojito questions just ask, we sell about 800 a night.

My drink of choice - Beer and a Grand Marnier neat.

Mojito -
White Rum, fresh lime juice, guarapo (sugar cane juice) - you can substitute simple syrup - mint leaves and a splash of club.

Petey has moved on to the management side of the restaurant biz, but I can attest to the fact that he is the best bartender on the east coast. He can push more alcohol than Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

I must admit, I drink very few cocktails. I will have a highball once in a while. Subtle difference is that higballs always have more alcohol than mixer. In my book, that is a good thing. I will never have any drink that soda pop is added to.

Once in a while I have a Mrs. Bailey's Black Bush. The main ingredients are Baileys and Old Bushmills Black Label. I usually have these on cold days or after skiing.

Usual drinks for me are Vodka or Gin Martini's served up and dry, Scotch on the rocks, Grand Mariner up, and a B&B rocks.

i've pretty much "given up" cocktails myself(jack & cokes used to my favorite), but these days when/if i order something, it's either a gin martini(i HATE having to specify gin, but what can i do..??), or a good margarita(only when it involves FRESH squeezed lime juice, none of that sweet & sour stuff)..

i was ready to say that i only have one cocktail, but that's not true. my favourite of course is grey goose and tonic, preferably with just a wisp of tonic. if the goose isn't available, i go for chopin.

then i remembered, i love sangria in the summer, not really a wine, not really a cocktail, kind of a blend. last, i love a good margarieta with mexican food.

of course i like rum on the golf course, just when it's below 50 fahrenheit and for warmth. i know i know, it doesn't provide warmth, but it feels like it.

ok ok, i like more than wine!!

Favorites of the moment are the Green Apple Martini- but just one- the alcohol goes right to my head!
Also love the Ruby Foos (NYC) Cosmopolitans and Ginger Martinis.
When my in-laws are here, we drink Southern Comfort Manhattans with them, which we'll be doing next Fri at Cite in NYC.

Painkiller

1.5 oz USVI rum
1.5 oz OJ
1.5 oz pineapple juice
3 oz Coco Loco cream of coconut

Mix thoroughly and pour over ice. Float Bacardi 151 on top. Garnish w/ pineapple wedge and cherry
