| Jason, Beers are traditionally based on a 0 to 50 scale. Adding 50 gets you close to a wine score, although I think that a 40 is more like an Alan Meadows 90 than a WS 90. I don't think that I've ever seen a beer judge give a score higher than 45. | | | Heater Allen Brewing - www.heaterallen.com | |

| ok now my favorite four, picked up from BevMo in Stockton
drinking these out of New Belgium glasses, being a bit more formal about these TN's since they are my favorite
Anderson Valley Winter Solstice Look: light amber, some turbidity Smell: sort of malty, not much Taste: very malty, caramel, somewhat sweet and viscous
Lagunitas Brown Sugga Look: med amber Smell: very citrusy, and slightly perfumey Taste: very citrusy-grapefuit, orange, slightly bitter in a rind way This one is very different than last year. Last year it was a very high-gravity, sweet and alchoholic beer. This year it seems that it's brewed with perhaps some citrus rinds.
New Belgium Frambozen Look: copper/reddish/amber Smell: sour cherries, estery Taste: pretty sour, cherry juice, not offering as much as before This seems to be scaled back from previous years, when previous years have been more concentrated
Anchor Christmas Ale Look: med dark Smell: Spicy, nutmeg, pine, dark malts Taste: spiced, malted, a bit metallic, very distinct love this one! |
