The Rocket Scientist's uncle Charles, a fine man, if a little pedestrian in his tastes, presented me (passively, via my observations) with this little riddle:
He loves the "normal" Glenfiddich (and the Chivas Regal, but c'mon--it's blended
). He was here for a week, and we were out of it, so he tried The Balvenie Doublewood and The Glenlivet (French Oak Reserve). He did not like the latter; he nearly drained the bottle of the former. Previously, I had bought him a bottle of GF Cask Strength, which he liked okay, but didn't rave. To my suprise, he was also pretty ambivalent about the bottle of Dalwhinnie that we gave him. I knew enough to not even try to give him any of the Islay.
So...is there anything that I can point him in the direction of? His birthday is coming up, and I'd like to get him something a little special...but lacking other choices, I'll get him more Balvenie.
