| I recently had the pleasure of enjoying some 1962 Henessey. TNs aren't going to follow as it was at the end of the night. My question is do your prefer single vintage Cognac or simply aged Cognac? And what is your favourite brand. In recent times I've been drawn to Frapin XO. A nice richy cognac, great after dinner with a nice cigar. | | |

| I LOVE Grand Marnier!!! Although it is a variation, it still is officially considered cognac. As far as straight cognac goes, it doesn't do it for me.
The absolute best cigar drink on the planet, and a splsh in a margarita is unreal.

| OK, here we Gooooo:
Jeremy: This is actually the ONLY (with very rare exceptions) other alcoholic beverage that I drink/enjoy. And, the reason that I do Not have any Dessert Wines. I consider this my “after-Dinner” drink every so often. I have a pretty good collection of these also. But, hope to keep increasing it (with time). But, this damn Wine-hobby is eating away almost all the $$$ that is allocated for such things. And, I always say to Wine-folks, “you think that Wine prices are outrageous, check out Cognac XO prices.”
Anyway, here are some of my favorites XOs (in order):
Remy Martin Remy Martin Trek Hardy Kelt Hine Chabasse Otard Meukow Courvoisier Imperial Hennessy Martell
Some that I hope to try/buy 1 day, but prices for some of these are outrageous (into hundreds or thousands of dollars):
Courvoisier Erte Hennessy Paradis Hennessy Richard Baccarat Crystal Hennessy Extra Martell Extra Remy Martin Extra Kelt Petra Hine Antique Roullet XO Special Roullet Très Rare N°45 Petite Roullet XO Borderies N° 29 Roullet Grande N° 26 Chabasse Imperial Delamain Reserve De La Famille A.E.DOR « Hors d'Age N°6» A.E.DOR #9 La Pouyard Premier Cru Pierre de Segonzac's XO Pierre de Segonzac's Réserve Ancestrale Normandin Mercier XO Guerbé Vieille Grande XO Martin Classique Baccarat Bowen XO Bowen Extra Frapin Extra Frapin Rabelais Baccarat Camus (top end ones) Leopold (all) & many more, but I will stop here...
What are some of your favorites? Did you try any of the above? What would you recommend?
Also, great values for the $$$ (in my opinion): Lautrec XO Godet XO
…Sorry for the long response, but it is Not often people post about Cognacs (especially in America). More popular in Europe/Eastern Europe.

| I had no idea that there were so many upper end cognacs. I have enjoyed Remy Martin XO and the Hennessey you mentioned, too, LCC> De-lish. BTW, anyone ever have Grand Marnier ice cream?! Hoochee-mama | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| Yeah Grand Marnier and Ice Cream-its good.
LCC, Remy Extra is good but frankly you would be better to spend the money on Henessey or Frapin. The Remy Extra is too strong lacking the finesse that many of the other producers have. Loius XIIV on the other hand well.......thats a differant story.
Edited cause I typed the wrong Cognac -sorry.

| Forgot to mention that Loius is 1 that I have to try before I die. So far, have Not been able to justify the $1,500.00 price tag or the $150.00+ per Glass. | | | |

| Come to NZ I can sell you a bottle for 1800 NZD $ or 900$ USD. And its about 75$ A glass (mind you we do US singles here and call them doubles.) Still even if you have two it will be half the price of a US glass. And besides I know this really good little wine shop where....... | | | |

| Interesting. You definitely have a deal, sir. I am planning 1 day another trip to that area of the World (Tahiti, Australia, NZ). It's Not going to be that soon (since I was in that part of the world just 2 years ago), but I can wait. I've waited to try this stuff for about 7 years. I can wait some more. Thank You & I will remind you of that. | | | |

Don't forget, if you get the last ounce of Louis, you keep the Baccarat. The Palm here in Boston has one that's getting pretty low.

| Forgot to mention. Bought in Belize this week (Duty Free, good price) Remy XO Special. Had 1 of my Remy XOs about 10 months ago with Friends (after Dinner) @ my place. But, never this 1.
Any TNs? Better than the Regular XO, same, similar, etc...

| Well, have been drinking this the last couple of months. A very nice after-Dinner drink. A bit smoother than the regular XO, but not sure it is worth the extra $$$. Very nice though... | | | |

| With regard to Belize (a cognac I've never tried) whats the approx cost for the XO? USD is fine if you can? Cheers. I'll pick some up Duty Free when I come over November. | | | |

| About $120.00 USD. In Belize, $80.00.
By the way, Duty Free prices in Belize are unreal. Some of the lowest I have ever seen (on everything).

| Remy Martin Trek Cognac De Voyage: Specially made, limited edition bottling. Let me tell you, it is good. Smooth as silk. Very nice. Recommend.
Not sure, but from my experience, I would estimate that this aged 20+ in the barrel.

| If we get enough people, I'd go in on a Louis bottle....
How many people would we really need? Of course we'd want to kill it that night!!!
I've had Remy and Hennessey, but not that much experience otherwise.
Grand Marnier? Hellz ya.... I can teach you all how to make a "Whore Dog" which is a drink invented by a local bartender RawRed and I used to know.... It's made primarily of Grand Marnier but has a special ingredient.... :-)
I know Mr. Jazin also loves the Grand Marnier. :-) | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Well, you figure we can probably get a bottle for about $800.00 (I hope).
How many people can we really get??? Who else is interested in trying 1 of the world's best & respected alcoholic beverages?
LCC: 1.
Revlis: 1.
Any one else for Louis Cognac XO?

| ... we can kill it @ the VC bash (those that join in). What a way to finish the night.
Look @ it this way. Chances of "you" trying it on your own are slim & none. Unless you want to pay about $1,000+ for 1 bottle &/or $150.00-$200.00/per shot @ some restaurant.

| Whoah.... that would be awesome....
Not only would it finish the VC dinner off... it'd finish me off too!!
I'm all for it!!!! Maybe we should post a link to this thread in the VC Dinner thread.....
I bet we could get 8 people... | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| You're the Wine Dictator. Post it (to that particular post).
I, for 1, if this happens, will drink a little less wine just to save myself for this (to appreciate it more).
